ADN : Acide du noyau des cellules vivantes, constituant l’essentiel des chromosomes et porteur de caractères génétiques. Avec ADN, La Face B part à la rencontre des artistes pour leur demander les chansons qui les définissent et les influencent. Aujourd’hui, à l’occasion du Crossroads festival, ce sont les allemands de Sparkling qui nous dévoilent leur ADN musical.
Gang of Four – Damaged Goods

FR : Pendant notre adolescence, nous avons joué un jour dans un vieil entrepôt industriel. Après le concert, un type est venu nous voir et nous a dit que nous sonnions comme Gang of Four. Nous ne connaissions pas le groupe à l’époque. Le lendemain, nous les avons écoutés. Depuis ce jour, nous écoutons beaucoup leur musique et nous l’adorons. C’est tellement brut et pur. Gang of Four nous a fait découvrir le post-punk, et le post-punk est devenu l’une de nos plus grandes influences pendant notre adolescence.
EN : In our teenage years we once played a show in an old industrial warehouse. After the show a guy came to us and told us we sound like Gang of Four. We didn’t know the band back then. The day after we checked them out, since that day we are listening to their music a lot and we love it. It’s so raw and pure. Gang of Four got us into Post Punk and Post Punk startet to be one of our biggest influence in our teenage years.
Stereolab – French Disko

FR : En 2018/2019, nous avons enregistré notre premier album I Want to See Everything avec le batteur Andy Ramsay de Stereolab. Nous avons beaucoup expérimenté et essayé de nombreux sons différents ensemble dans son studio à Londres. C’était une période vraiment inspirante. On en garde de bons souvenirs.
EN : In 2018/2019 we recorded our debut album I Want to See Everything with the drummer Andy Ramsay from Stereolab. We experimented a lot and tried out many different sounds together in his studio in London. It was a really inspiring time. Good memories.

FR : Le Krautrock est né dans le « Rheinland » et c’est de là que nous venons. Nous sommes tous nés et avons grandi à Cologne – donc le Motorik Beat était toujours présent. Lorsque nous avons déménagé à Londres pour y vivre ensemble dans une seule pièce, nous nous sommes encore plus intéressés au Krautrock. À cette époque, nous avons beaucoup réfléchi à ce que cela signifie d’être un musicien allemand et à nos origines musicales. Cela s’est avéré être une grande influence pour notre musique.
EN : Krautrock was born in the „Rheinland“ and thats where we are from. We are all born and raised in Cologne – so the Motorik Beat was always around. When we moved to London to live there together in one room we got even more into Krautrock. In that time we thought a lot about what it means to be a german musician and what our musical background was. So it turned out the be a big influence to our music.
Robyn – Dancing on my own

FR : Une nuit, nous sommes allés à une fête d’école d’art dans un endroit isolé, quelque part dans les bois. C’était une nuit sauvage et le DJ a joué ce morceau. Nous sommes tombés amoureux de ce morceau immédiatement et avons été fascinés par les arpèges et les vibrations dansantes.
EN : One night we went to an artschool party in an off-location somewhere in the woods. It was a wild night and the DJ played this track. We fall in love with the track immediately and were fascinated by the arpeggiators and dancing vibes.
Digitalism – Chrome.exe
FR : Nous avons sorti quelques remixes des chansons de notre premier album en 2020. Les titres ont été remixés par Digitalism, Hiro Ama de Teleman et Felix Martin de Hot Chip. Ces remixes nous ont fait penser différemment à nos chansons et nous ont inspiré pour notre nouvelle musique. Le premier titre sortira en octobre de cette année. Nous étions en studio avec Joe Goddard et Al Doyle de Hot Chip. C’était un moment cool et intense !
EN : We released a couple of remixes of the songs from our debut album in 2020. The tracks got remixed by Digitalism, Hiro Ama from Teleman and Felix Martin from Hot Chip. These made us think different about our songs and inspired us for our new music. The first track will be out in October this year. We were in the studio with Joe Goddard and Al Doyle from hot chip. It was a cool and intense time!
